Acceptable Use Policy
Nova is a powerful platform. These rules exist to make sure it stays safe and trustworthy for everyone — developers, end users, and the broader public.
1.Overview
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the Nova platform, API, and any related services. By accessing Nova you agree to this policy. It supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We may update this policy at any time; continued use of Nova after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
2.Prohibited Content
You may not use Nova to generate, distribute, or facilitate any content that: is illegal under applicable local, national, or international law; depicts or solicits child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form; constitutes harassment, hate speech, or credible threats against individuals or groups based on protected characteristics; defames, libels, or maliciously misrepresents real persons; infringes the intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights of any third party; or constitutes non-consensual intimate imagery.
3.Prohibited Activities
You may not use Nova to: develop, train, or assist in the creation of weapons of mass destruction, biological agents, or cyberweapons; conduct large-scale influence operations, generate coordinated disinformation, or produce synthetic media designed to deceive at scale; automate spam, phishing, or social engineering attacks; scrape, crawl, or systematically extract model weights, embeddings, or internal representations through repeated API queries; circumvent rate limits, abuse free-tier resources, or share API keys with unauthorized parties; violate any export control laws or sanctions regulations; or operate in a manner that could materially degrade Nova's infrastructure or interfere with other users.
4.Sensitive Use Cases
Certain use cases require extra care and may be subject to additional review before use: medical or clinical decision support; legal advice or autonomous legal document generation; financial advisory services; content moderation systems processing user-generated content at scale; autonomous agents with access to real-world systems (email, code execution, databases); and high-stakes public-sector applications. If your use case falls into these categories, contact us at trust@nova.ai before deploying in production.
5.API Usage
API keys are personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for all usage that occurs under your key, whether authorized or not. You must not publicly expose your API key in client-side code, public repositories, or third-party services. If you believe your key has been compromised, revoke it immediately from Console → API Keys and contact us. Automated testing, load testing, or benchmarking that generates significant traffic must be coordinated with us in advance.
6.Account Responsibility
You are solely responsible for ensuring that all users of your application or integration comply with this policy. If you build a product on top of Nova that is accessible to end users, you must implement your own content moderation, user authentication, and abuse prevention appropriate to your use case. You may not use Nova as a backend for services that themselves violate this policy.
7.Enforcement
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and, at our sole discretion, suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate this policy — with or without prior notice, and without refund of unused credits. For serious violations (CSAM, cyberweapons, fraud), we will report to relevant law enforcement authorities and preserve relevant records as required by law. Appeals may be submitted to trust@nova.ai within 14 days of a suspension.
8.Reporting Violations
If you observe Nova being used in violation of this policy, please report it to trust@nova.ai. Include as much detail as possible — the offending content or behavior, the model used, and any relevant identifiers. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action. We do not retaliate against good-faith reporters.
9.Contact
Questions about this policy should be directed to trust@nova.ai. For legal notices, contact legal@nova.ai or write to: Nova, Inc., 123 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94105.
